Position Summary:
South Florida Bible College invites applications for an Adjunct Professor qualified to teach undergraduate courses in English. This position is adjunct working on-campus only. There are currently no online openings. The applicant must be authorized to work in the U.S.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses (Reading and Writing Essentials, Beginning College Writing, Composition I and II, Literature).


Preferred Qualifications:
Earned Ph.D. in English with an emphasis in Composition and Rhetoric, plus experience teaching Composition.


Essential Qualifications:
Earned MA in English, Literature, or Composition and Rhetoric, or a master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in English, Communications, Creative Writing, Journalism, Linguistics, Rhetoric, or Composition.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create an environment of learning through effective teaching skills, maintain student-centered focus.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and encourage active learning.
  • Create learning activities, including assignments, tests, quizzes and labs, and assess student outcomes in a timely manner through effective assessment and constructive feedback to students to support the learning process.
  • Perform lectures for campus courses, and hold scheduled virtual course meetings for online courses. Teaching will be conducted through on-campus and online delivery.
  • Interact positively with diverse student populations; provide all students with equal opportunities for learning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the industry, maintain knowledge and skill relevancy through continuing education as defined in the faculty development plan.

  • Ability to multi-task while working independently and collaboratively with other teachers and university staff

Skills:

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word and PowerPoint.
  • Recognize various rhetorical audiences and appropriate manners of addressing them.
  • Have the ability to analyze work, participate in discussions, and give constructive feedback.
  • Must be able to facilitate online lecture.
  • Interact professionally and constructively with students and staff at all levels
  • Prior teaching experience in a college setting is a plus, particularly teaching online.
  • Teaches all courses as assigned by the Department Chair or Coordinator.
  • Maintains attendance and punctuality.
  • Always maintains a professional appearance.
  • Prepares course syllabi.
  • Meets all scheduled classes on the assigned day /time.
  • Uses scheduled class time appropriately.
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude, philosophy, and commitment that promotes student growth and learning.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the institutional mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Adheres to College Rules and Procedures, which reflect updated Federal, state, and local legislation that governs the educational process.
  • Maintains accurate student records for grading and attendance purposes, submitting grade reports within college deadlines.
  • Promotes and maintains a healthy and safe educational and work environment, free from harassment and discrimination.
  • Demonstrates professional growth and development by updating knowledge of subject matter and using effective teaching techniques.
  • Develops, maintains and promotes a positive working environment among departmental faculty.
