Qualities and Expectations of an Assistant Manager
You want your employees and customers to be as happy as possible. A happy employee will do their best work for you. A happy customer will honor you with return visits. You would want your store giving the best service, and serving the highest quality food. Every customer would be satisfied because they would not have to worry if their order was correct, fresh, served in a timely manner, or by a friendly employee.
Your store would build a great reputation and no doubt sales and transactions would improve. More sales mean more profit. More profit means more money to improve your life and the lives of your employees. We are looking for people that in their working life are 100% committed to making their store the best.
Here is a list of qualities and expectations we expect in an assistant manager.
Remember by your actions you set the example for your employees.
1. Being on time.
2. Being properly groomed, wearing a complete uniform.
3. Smile and be happy you are at work.
4. Always have a positive attitude.
5. Greet every employee when you arrive at the store.
6. Say good bye to every employee when you leave the store.
7. Treat every employee with respect, even if they do not treat you with respect.
Remember if you owned the store you would realize that engaging in an argument with
an employee does not make your business more profitable in any way.
8. Treat every customer like you would your favorite family member. NEVER raise your
voice or argue with a customer. OUR GOAL IS EVERY CUSTOMER LEAVES HAPPY.
9. Where ever you are working you should constantly be evaluating how you can make
things better. Example:
You are in-charge of the grill area. Is all of the equipment in place? Is all of it working?
Are all of your employees in proper uniforms? Do you have enough raw product? What
cleaning needs to be done? How are your U.H.C. levels? Is the person on meat following
the correct procedures? Is the flow of product fast enough so the manager up front is
able to give great service?
10. As you spend your day in the store you should be looking for ways to make the store run
as smooth as possible. Example: You walk past the stock area and you notice we are
going to run out of something before the next truck. You are off the next few days. You
are not in-charge of the order. What do you do?
11. It is easy to point out what is wrong with the store and report it to the General
Manager. We are looking for people who are aware of issues that need to be corrected,
report it to the GM and all other managers and be a part of the solution of getting it
corrected.
12. You must listen to and follow directions.
13. We expect you to work hard, even when some of your fellow managers do not
remember your actions are a direct reflection on who and what you are.
14. We expect and encourage you to ask questions when you didn't understand.
15. You must keep your cool under pressure and even in conflict. A leader sets the example.
This is a must.
16. We expect you to always give your best effort to do what is asked of you by leadership
even when sometimes you may not fully agree or understand the reason.
17. You are expected to keep a positive attitude even when things are not going as planned.
18. We are looking for people who have the goal and mindset to make the store better not
just put in their time and go home.
19. We need people who understand that the ability to see and correct issues is more
important than being the fastest at something.
20. We need someone who can watch using all their senses and give direction not just work
a station.
In conclusion we are looking for a career minded, customer focused, detailed oriented, mature,
positive role model who with our help become the best management person they can be. And
in turn help us to make this McDonald's the best it can be.
