Job Description

A leading law firm is seeking Pro Bono Legal Practice Assistants for its New York and Washington, D.C. offices starting June 2025. This entry-level role supports immigration and Spanish-language pro bono matters through translation, case tracking, and administrative assistance. It offers a meaningful opportunity to work directly with attorneys and clients on impactful legal work.

 

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish; skilled in translating documents and interpreting conversations.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills, especially around sensitive topics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); ability to learn new software systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and research ability.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Discretion and ability to handle confidential matters.

 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as main contact for Spanish-speaking pro bono clients.
  • Interpret meetings between attorneys and clients (phone, video, in-person).
  • Translate documents and correspondence between Spanish and English.
  • Track pro bono immigration cases and generate internal reports.
  • Support preparation and filing of legal documents and case materials.
  • Assist with case-related research using tools like Westlaw, LexisNexis, and PACER.
  • Coordinate meetings and assist with scheduling and follow-ups.
  • Maintain organized and accurate electronic and paper case files.
