Successful applicants must pass a Physical Agility Exam. Upon successfully passing the Physical Agility Exam, a PELLETB Written exam will be scheduled. Applicants must pass both exams to qualify for the Academy.
Butte College Law Enforcement Academy dates will be June 30, 2025 - December 5, 2025,
Must be at least 21 years of age upon graduation date to be considered.
Under supervision in a training capacity in preparation for a professional law enforcement career, individual(s) selected will be sponsored (paid) to attend the P.O.S.T. Police Academy, and to perform related work. We are seeking motivated individual(s) with a strong commitment toward providing excellent service to the members of the community. An eligibility list to fill current and future Police Officer vacancies will be established.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must be available to attend a 23-week P.O.S.T. Basic Police Officer Training Academy designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the criminal justice system and specialized training in various laws, police practices and procedures, law enforcement techniques, first aid and physical conditioning. Must be 21 or older at time of graduation from the Police Academy (December, 2023); Must meet or exceed the following qualifications: Possess a High School Diploma/G.E.D., a valid California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record. U.S. Citizenship is mandatory. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to complete the P.O.S.T. physical agility test and to successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, truth verification exam, psychological screening and medical examination.
If a candidate fails to complete the academy their employment with the City will be terminated. If the candidate was a CSO prior to entering the academy and their former CSO position remained vacant, the individual could be reinstated to the CSO position subject to City of Red Bluff Police Unit Memorandum of Understanding section 17.04.00 (Reinstatement).
Education:
Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
