Overview
Our client, a nationally ranked CPA and advisory firm, is seeking a highly experienced Tax Partner specializing in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) to lead strategic tax planning and transactional support for complex M&A engagements. This executive-level role requires deep expertise in corporate structuring, due diligence, and tax-efficient deal execution for both buyers and sellers in various industries.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the lead tax advisor on buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions
Conduct and oversee tax due diligence and risk assessments
Advise clients on structuring options to optimize tax outcomes
Collaborate closely with legal, accounting, and advisory teams to deliver integrated solutions
Guide clients through post-transaction integration from a tax perspective
Stay current with evolving federal and state tax regulations affecting M&A activity
Build and manage relationships with private equity firms, corporate clients, and strategic investors
Mentor and develop staff within the tax advisory and transaction services teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA certification required
Minimum 10+ years of public accounting experience , with at least 5 years focused on M&A tax advisory
Deep understanding of corporate structuring , partnership transactions , IRC 338(h)(10) , 754 elections , and international tax considerations
Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills
Proven ability to manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously
Preferred Background
Experience at a Top 50 audit, tax, and advisory firm
Strong network in private equity and corporate finance sectors
Must currently be working in public accounting (not a corporate finance or internal tax department role)
