Job Description

Description:

D1 Training Arlington Heights is seeking a high-energy Volleyball Performance Coach to deliver elite-level training to athletes of all ages—from young beginners to collegiate and professional players.

This is not a traditional volleyball team coaching role. We’re looking for a volleyball-specific strength and conditioning specialist with deep knowledge of athletic performance who can step in on Day 1 and coach confidently across all skill levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver strength and conditioning programs to youth (6–18), adults (18–80), and competitive athletes
  • Coach 1-on-1, small group, and team sessions with a focus on performance, speed, and agility
  • Program personalized workouts based on athlete needs and goals
  • Maintain a high-energy, motivating environment that emphasizes safety, progress, and fun
  • Represent the D1 brand with professionalism and passion

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid certification: CSCS, SCCC, NASM, ISSA, or CPT
  • Volleyball and/or general athletic background
  • 1+ years of coaching experience
  • Confident with programming and coaching in multiple formats
  • Energetic, positive attitude, strong communication skills

Preferred:

  • Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field
  • Familiarity with the Arlington Heights and nearby towns and local athletic community
  • Experience working with athletes of all ages, especially in small group/team settings

What We Value:

  • Strong character and high personal standards
  • Love of coaching and commitment to delivering elite results
  • Team player attitude—no egos, just energy
  • Consistency and a drive to improve every day

Perks & Benefits:

  • Performance-based bonuses
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Advancement opportunities
  • Ongoing training & development

Schedule:

10–15 hours per week to start, with flexible availability preferred (evenings/weekends included)

Key Skills Required For Position:

CHARACTER . This coach must have world class character & align with our core values. Here at D1 Training we work hard & play hard. You must show up every single day ready to have fun with high energy. If you don’t bring the juice, or are up & down day to day, you aren’t a good fit for this high-performance team.

COACH . This coach should be able to step in on day 1 & work with anyone. We have classes for 7-11 year olds, 12-14 year olds, 15-18 year olds, & adults. You can’t have an ego around who you work with & must LOVE coaching everyone.

TEAM PLAYER . At D1 Training we do not let coaches “pick” who they work with. Every coach must be a team player & be ready to train members of all ages & skill levels. Every coach must be willing to coach 1 on 1, group classes, & semi-privates.

In joining our team, you’ll be responsible for:

Developing and providing customized personal training programs for individual clients and small groups

Implementing training programs for youth small groups and teams as assigned

Ensuring safe and effective use of equipment

Motivating and building positive relationships with clients and facility members

Participating in ongoing personal training growth opportunities and programs

Obtaining and maintaining required certificates and licenses

Various other duties as assigned

A Day In The Life Of A D1 Coach:

Imagine walking into a high-performance facility where you're not just training—you're transforming lives. You might start your day with an 8-year-old new to volleyball, then train a D1-bound 17-year-old, followed by adult clients and a youth team. Every session you deliver is results-driven and relationship-based. At D1, your impact goes beyond reps and sets.

Schedule: Flexible availability throughout the week, including nights and weekends, and at least 10-15 hours per week to commit to the position
