Position Description

Position Summary: Under the general direction of the General Foreman, the Construction Laborer is responsible for general maintenance and construction. Repair and completion of new and old systems and lines. Requires use of power tools as well as various digging equipment (shovels, hammers, crow bars, etc.) Other work as directed by the General Foreman or customer.

Position Requirements

  • Construction Laborer is responsible for obtaining all necessary forms, PPE, tools and equipment needed for task before leaving yard.
  • Construction Laborer is responsible for driving and maintaining company assigned vehicle, performing vehicle inspection before, during, and at the end of the day of every shift. Always maintain good housekeeping (clean and orderly cab and bed).
  • Construction Laborer will use appropriate journey management to travel to intended locations and perform site evaluation.
  • Secures work location by maintaining site control through placing cones, meet & greet and/or location closed signs etc., designating the work zone.
  • Construction Laborer is to establish appropriate signage needed for task. (I.e. detours, road closures, slow, road work ahead, etc.)
  • Identifies all on site hazards and completes JSA.
  • Performs meet and greet.
  • Completes Power Line Avoidance and any additional paper work needed.
  • Construction Laborer is to STOP Work and notify supervisor if Job tasks change or additional hazards arise that will change the original plan agreed by crew members and supervisor.

  • Education:
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience:
  • 6 months of experience in construction or other similar work is desirable

  • Skills:
  • Must have excellent organizational, communication, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of supervisors and employees.  The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and in team.
  • Knowledge/Abilities:
    • Knowledge of occupational safety and workplace hazard identification.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and State automobile insurance and acceptable driving record substantiated by a DMV printout.
    • Completion of substance abuse screening upon offer of employment.
  • Physical Demands:

    • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as; hot and cold temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noise in which all are common oil and gas field exposures.
    • Work environment involves maximum exposure to physical risk, such as moving and operating equipment including working with chemicals and oils indicative with the Company’s industry.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit; use hands and fingers to touch, handle, and feel; and speak or hear.  The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, and occasionally required to stop, kneel, bend, squat, and crouch.  The employee must frequently lift 12 to 20 lbs., occasionally lift and/or move 21 to 50 lbs.
    • Some overtime and weekends will be required.
